About Rajesh Puthanpurayil

Rajesh Puthanpurayil is an Indian film entrepreneur having multiple creative platforms across the country serving cinema, film festivals, cultural events, charity programs, and other art centered initiatives. He pursued bachelor’s in science and two masters from recognized universities in India and has contributed significantly to the cultural and creative landscape of the nation through cinematic and social initiatives.

My Journey

Rajesh Puthanpurayil pursued his graduation from St. Albert’s College, Cochin with a BSc in Botany. His journey into storytelling, culture, and visual expression began during his postgraduate years, where an interest in society, human emotions, and narratives took shape through studies at Mahatma Gandhi University in Sociology. A second postgraduate degree in Mass Communication and Journalism from Alagappa University further strengthened his foundation in media, storytelling, and cinematic communication.

In 2003, his initial creative initiatives focused on building structured platforms that nurtured artistic skills and cultural engagement. Over the years, these platforms evolved to include organized cultural programs, creative workshops, and community-based initiatives that supported emerging talents. These early efforts laid the groundwork for a larger creative ecosystem that would later expand into film production, festivals, and cultural movements.

By 2016, Rajesh Puthanpurayil formally consolidated his creative vision under the LK banner, bringing together film-related activities, production initiatives, and cultural programs. Alongside this, charity initiatives were introduced with the intention of supporting socially disadvantaged communities, senior citizens, and aspiring artists by providing resources, healthcare assistance, and creative opportunities.

A major turning point came in 2020 with the launch of a dedicated film production platform under LK Productions. This initiative focused on producing short films, documentaries, and independent cinema while also offering structured opportunities in scriptwriting, direction, and filmmaking. The platform opened doors for many individuals passionate about cinema, enabling them to transform ideas into meaningful visual stories.

Rajesh Puthanpurayil’s debut short film Made In received significant recognition, earning multiple national and international awards and official selections at prestigious film festivals, including accolades in India, the UK, the USA, and Australia. These recognitions reinforced his belief in cinema as a medium of cultural dialogue and social reflection.

Parallel to film production, cultural and media initiatives expanded through digital platforms that highlighted creative works, festival updates, and artistic discussions. These platforms strengthened community engagement and amplified independent voices within the creative industry.

The vision further evolved with the launch of the LK Film Festival, an international short film festival platform dedicated to celebrating independent cinema, diverse storytelling, and emerging filmmakers. The festival successfully completed its first edition and continues to grow with future editions planned, expanded categories, and global participation.

Today, Rajesh Puthanpurayil’s journey reflects a seamless transformation of passion into service using cinema, film festivals, charity programs, and cultural events as tools to inspire, empower, and contribute meaningfully to society. His initiatives continue to shape a sustainable creative ecosystem rooted in artistic integrity and cultural impact.
